Cryotherapy is the removal of unwanted skin lesions using cold temperatures. A fine freezing spray is directed at the lesion for a few seconds without damaging the surrounding tissue. Over the subsequent few days, the area will scab over and the lesion will fall off. It usually takes 1-2 weeks for the area to fully heal. Occasionally more than one treatment will be needed for larger lesions.
Cryotherapy does not hurt, it just feels very cold for a few seconds. You do not need any specialist aftercare. Dr Isabel is trained in dermoscopy, the microscopic analysis of moles and skin lesions and if there is any concern over your skin she will provide you with dermoscopy images to pass to your GP for onward referral to an NHS or private dermatologist.
Cryotherapy can be used to treat:
- Skin tags
- Warts
- Seborrheic keratoses/warts
- Patches of sun damage/pigmentation

- Milia
- Actinic keratosis
- Benign moles
- Haemangiomas/cherry angiomas
